So yesterday, I drove into the street leading to my church and quickly noticed there was police presence. Lots of Road Safety officials and blue and black wearing police officers formed circles talking or doing their thing. I got into church and it was the same. My friend who followed me to church asked why they were many officers in church. “Dunno, they could just be some ‘big man’ worshiping here today hence the police presence.” I responded.
We walked in and noticed the ushers redirected traffic from the usual entrance. We followed grudgingly. Me was even murmuring, wondering why they had to put people through the stress of using the ‘other door’. We sauntered in finally and he was standing right there, on the pulpit. I’d seen him on TV, read about him and blogged about him severally but hadn’t seen him before. He picked his topic and started the sermon for the day. I must say I enjoyed listening to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo speak. He entitled his message Victory of the Elect and went on to speak God’s mind (they say that’s what pastors do). I listened, but it was too distracting. I mean, listening to him was cool but I just couldn’t get past the many things happening in Nigeria at the moment. I sat there all the while thinking only about politics, campaign promises, exchange rate and DSS.
I had to force myself to imagine the good old prof was a man of God first before politics. Lol! He looked humble, spoke eloquently and even joined the people celebrating their wedding anniversary in November to cut the anniversary cake. Service was fun, it was thanksgiving sunday, we sang and danced and time to go, then I remembered my blog, I didn’t even take a picture of him preaching for my blog? ‘Well, those pictures will turn up online somehow,’ I shrugged my shoulder. And it did. So feed ya eyes below. Meanwhile I’m writing this post in a drowsy state. Have a flu, so I took some drugs. My eyes are partially shut. The post might be mistake ridden. Pardon me in advance. Lol...that’s the end of my epistle.
