A takeaway owner has been hailed because of his unusual show of calm in a very frightening situation.
The man identified as Ahmed was serving his customer when an armed robber turned up at his shop in Christchurch, New Zealand threatening him with a gun. Ahmed simply ignored him and continued selling to his customer as if the thief wasn’t even there.
He finished serving the counter and walked away.
Ahmed told the Guardian: ‘The man wanted to frighten me and I decided he couldn’t do that. I passed the customer his food because I wanted him to leave the shop and not be in any danger.’
He added: ‘The robber was very confused by my behaviour. He wanted to scare me but I wasn’t scared, so I took away his power.’
The failed robber is now being hunted by the police.
