An Edo State indigene Lucky Idahosa, was found out to have raped his 17-year-old daughter for alleged money ritual.
He has been has sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment for the act by an Egor Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benin.
Earlier, Idahosa had been arraigned on one count of rape.
According to Punch, police prosecutor, Osaretin Ogiehon, told the court that 40-year-old Idahosa committed the offence in June 2016.
Ogiehon explained that Idahosa raped his daughter on Upper S and T Barracks Street, Off Uselu-Lagos Road in Benin.
Ogiehon also told the court that the offence contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 48, Vol. II, Law of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, as applicable in Edo State.
The victim informed the court that her father made her unconscious before committing the crime.
She added that her father threatened to deal with her if she spoke to anyone about it
Idahosa pleaded guilty to the offence, saying he was under pressure to rape his daughter for money ritual.
However, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Igho Braimah, frowned at his claim and thereafter sentenced him to 14 years’ imprisonment without an option of fine.
