A burglar tried to break into the home of Manchester United’s new coach Jose Mourinho on the 10th of July while he was watching the Euro 2016 finals. The 26-year-old burglar Gabor Roman was caught by a security guard, hired by residents, who had earlier spotted him walking up to each home on the street and looking for points of entry.
The crook, tried to break into Mourinho’s £25million Central London apartment through a basement door - which alerted a maid who was carrying out chores.
The security guard quickly reacted and blocked the fleeing Roman, who had no choice but to wait until police officers arrived.
According to The Sun, a team of eight officers arrived on the scene and Roman was quickly arrested.
Mourinho was later seen in his pyjamas looking bemused as police officers arrested the man in front of his home.
A witness told the Sun: 'Jose looked dumbfounded. I don’t think it had registered with the guy he was trying to burgle the house of the world’s most famous football coach.'
Roman has been sentenced to four weeks for attempted burglary at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. See more photos below:
