A 24 year old Brit who lost a diamond ring on holiday in the Med, flew out an under- water metal detector buff to search for the ring.
24-year-old Katie Patterson, was devastated when her £10,000 family heirloom slipped off her finger while she swam in Majorca.
When she got home she called “every metal detectorist in the UK” before she was put in touch with retired diver George Edmunds.
Katie, who inherited the ring when her gran died two years ago, said: “One thing my nana instilled in me was never to give up.
“Everyone had been very pessimistic but George seemed confident.”
Katie agreed to pay around £1,000 of her savings to fly the 75-year-old and his partner out to the Spanish isle.
Katie, living in Newcastle also returned and showed him the area near where she lost it. George found the ring buried in the sand after searching for an hour, The Sun reports.
