Jigawa State Government Sponsors 60 Indigenes To Study Medicine In China

Jigawa State government has reportedly sponsored 60 students to Shenyang Medical College in China to study medicine.

According to NAN, the Commissioner for Health in the state Dr Abba Zakari-Umar disclosed this on the 15th of October, shortly before the students departed. He explained that 10 of the students were already in China while the 50 remaining students will begin their lectures in one week’s time.



Zakari-Umar said that 5, 800 dollars would be paid to each of the students in the university per annum.  He said, “The present administration under the leadership of Gov. Mohammed Badaru is determined to ensure that all heath facilities have qualified manpower, hence the decision to sponsor these students.” He revealed that most of the students were from poor families and were selected after they had been properly screened. “Most of the successful students are from the poor families and had undergone thorough screening before getting the admission. “We have also made adequate arrangement to ensure prompt settlement of all their fees to enable them concentrate fully on their studies.”
