A Malawian muslim woman has left Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in utter shock and embarrassment after she refused to shake his hand in public. The President completely unaware that a Muslim woman is not allowed to shake a man, had extended his hand for a hand shake when the woman tactically ignored the outstretched hand.
The incident happened while opening the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa meeting in Entebbe last week,
As some delegates were scrambling to get a handshake with President Museveni, this lady dressed in Muslim Hijab appeared scared of his hand and refused to touch it.
After Museveni had taken a group photo with the delegates and shaking hands, he noticed that one of them from Malawi was avoiding him.
He then called her closer, extended his arm to greet her, but she declined the president’s handshake.
The photos have caused an uproar online.
